“Save Me” is the latest video from North Carolina metalcore band Still
Searching. The band is composed of Gabe Perez on Vocals, Alex Hughes on
Guitar and Vocals, Jordan Hughes on Guitar and Vocals, Turner Thomas on Bass
and Vocals, and Joshua Williams on drums. Their sound has been described as
“2008 metalcore” and also “Warped Tour Monster Energy stage”. But, regardless
of how you choose to describe their sound, their talent is undeniable. I have
witnessed their onstage chemistry as well, and it’s truly a sight to behold.
“Save Me” was recorded, engineered, produced, and directed by Garrett
Barefoot of Blackplate Productions. The video is centered around the band
performing, with red roses accenting their instruments to symbolize romance,
love, beauty, and courage. There are white roses by Gabe’s feet on his mic
stand to convey a strong and deep message of hope, respect, and love. There
are scenes of each band member being strapped to a chair and struggling to
be set free as if to say that they won’t be tied down. The video flashes back to
scenes of each of them needing “saved” in between watching them perform
the song. The video closes on Alex, still strapped into a chair, and left on the
set alone.
The song was written by Gabe, Alex, and Jordan. For Gabe, the song
is somewhat about a recent breakup and he also adds, “It also explains that no
matter how many times I came back, I always hated myself for believing I could
make something work that wasn’t meant to be.” For Jordan, “Lyrically, for me, it
came from a place of desperation. I wrote it because after getting out of a
relationship and the pain it left me in, I met my girlfriend. Initially, the song is
about her and how she helped me out of a hole that I felt I was in. That’s
where the subject matter of the lyrics came from my perspective. But we then
changed the lyrics to replicate not only my situation but other situations as
well. Everyone needs saving from something or someone. Whether it be a
person, a vice, a place. No matter what, there’s always something you wish
someone would save you from. And we decided to replicate that in not only
the lyrics. But the song as a whole.” And Alex says, “Lyrically, everyone needs
saving from something. It was kinda a collage of feelings from past
relationships as well as any vices we had at the time and this song is just us
wearing our hearts on our sleeves.” The band definitely wears their hearts on
their sleeves well, but they never forget to have fun, too (check out their video
for their cover of “7 Rings” if you need proof of this!). Their debut album “In
Total Disarray” is due out in 2022.

“Save Me” Lyrics
TEAR.
ME APART.
AND WATCH ME CRAWL BACK.
INSIDE OF MY SHELL.
THESE EMPTY WORDS
WILL NEVER REACH A HEART THAT’S FULL OF HATE.
I CAN’T COMPETE
WITH THE TIDES THAT PUSH YOU,
AWAY FROM ME!
TOWARDS THE DEEP, THE BLUE WILL FADE TO BLACK.
SWALLOW ME! CHOKE ON MY LIES FOR YOU!
CHOKING ON MY LIES FOR YOU!
YOUR SHINING EYES THEY MOCK ME.
A TRANCE WITHIN I CAN’T ESCAPE.
YOUR SHINING EYES THEY MOCK ME.
I CANNOT GET AWAY.
SO WILL YOU SAVE ME?
AND THESE BROKEN PIECES OF MY HEART.
SO WILL YOU SAVE ME?
OR LET US FALL APART.
SO WILL YOU SAVE ME?
AND THESE MEMORIES KEPT IN THE DARK.
SO WILL YOU SAVE ME.
AND HEAL MY BRO-KEN HEART.
SAVE ME, I AM FALLING FASTER (FALLING FASTER),
FALLING FASTER.
SAVE ME, I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT YOU, LIVE WITHOUT YOU.
YOUR SHINING EYES THEY MOCK ME.
A TRANCE WITHIN I CAN’T ESCAPE.
YOUR SHINING EYES THEY MOCK ME.
I CANNOT GET AWAY.
SAVE ME, I AM FALLING FASTER (FALLING FASTER),
FALLING FASTER.
SAVE ME, I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT YOU, LIVE WITHOUT YOU.
TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT.
TELL ME WHAT YOU NEED.
I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT YOU.
TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT.
TELL ME WHAT YOU NEED.
I CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT YOU.
