Bastardane & OTTTO at The Gramercy Theater

This past weekend, Bastardane and OTTTO began their co-headline tour with a show at NYC’s Gramercy Theater. Taking the stage first were OTTTO, featuring Tye Trujillo (son of Metallica’s Rob Trujillo) on bass. The band’s heavy sound was perfectly juxtaposed by beautiful full-band vocal harmonies that would pop up in their songs. The crowd was incredibly attentive and receptive during the band’s entire set, especially during an impressive mid-set bass solo, which was shortly followed by a shredding finger-tapping guitar solo. “You’ve got a beautiful community here in NYC. You should all be proud to be here. Thanks for coming out!” the band announced during their set.

Closing out the night were Bastardane, featuring Castor Hetfield (son of Metallica’s James Hetfield) on drums. The band brought a classic rock inspired sound with their own refreshing influence built in. Floating vocals, catchy guitar riffs, and a thumping rhythm section filled the venue during the band’s set. “NYC…we came here to party! So don’t you just stand there!” declared the band’s charismatic frontman as he bounced around every inch of the stage. The set also included an instrumental song that brought the band’s musicianship front and center.
