Joseph Mulherin, better known by his stage name nothing,nowhere, is a rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer based out of Vermont. He brought his latest tour, The Void Eternal Tour, to Heaven at The Masquerade in Atlanta, GA this past Saturday. The Masquerade is a uniquely designed venue featuring three stages of varying capacities named Purgatory, Hell, and Heaven.
nothing,nowhere fuses elements of emo rap, hip-hop, and rock to create a sound all his own. He’s been captivating audiences since 2015 with his unique sound and deeply personal lyrics. His latest album, Void Eternal, brought forth a heavier sound, adding elements of post-hardcore to the mix. The album also features collaborations with artists Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy, tourmates SeeYouSpaceCowboy, Will Ramos of Lorna Shore, Buddy Nielsen of Senses Fail, Silverstein, Freddie Dredd, and Underoath.
Throughout the night leading up to his set, cassette tapes were thrown into the crowd that contained unreleased songs, which was very cool for an artist of his size to do. He also still does VIP for his shows, and treated the guests to a one-take of “Wooden Home”.
Launching right into THIRST4VIOLENCE, n,n took the stage around 9pm, and the audience became a deafening roar in unison. The set started out pretty heavy, with hits off of his explosive new album Void Eternal, before transitioning to older fan favorites like “nightmare”, “fake friend”, and “pieces of you”. A few highlights are when he invited tourmates onstage to sing with him, and also when he invited his tour photographer up to help him sing a cover of “One Step Closer”.
Throughout the set, n,n was sure to keep the crowd engaged. His ability to connect with his audience is a testament to his genuine passion for his craft. Closing with one of his biggest hits, “hammer”, nothing,nowhere delivered an entertaining and engaging setlist that is sure to delight any fan, new or old.
