Mia x Ally are on the road this fall/winter for their “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” Tour, and it’s an experience you won’t want to miss!
Electric violinist Mia Asano and bagpiper/multi-instrumentalist Ally Crowley-Duncan (a.k.a. Ally the Piper) joined forces in April 2022 after their online collaboration left fans longing for more. The duo, alongside drummer Dominic Marraffa III and guitarist Dov Beck-Levine, played Delmar Hall in St. Louis, Missouri on November 12, 2023.
At first mention, the idea of an instrumental rock/metal concert with an electric violin and bagpipes front and center might feel a bit suspicious, but this talented group brings high energy and a dynamic sound with a Celtic twist that is worthy of the genres. Besides, they aren’t worried about gatekeepers in the scene because Metallica have already silenced the internet Chads and Karens on the duo’s behalf, settling, once and for all, that bagpipes and violin do have a place in rock and metal.
The band played two one-hour sets combined with an encore, shared many charming and hilarious anecdotes, and celebrated Mia’s birthday with the crowd and a terrifyingly cute group of Squishmallows. The set list spanned a mix of covers, mashups, original hits, and unreleased music that will leave you hyped for what’s up next for the group.
Mia x Ally care deeply about mental health awareness. In addition to normalizing the discussion about mental health through conversation on stage and social media, they are donating 100% of proceeds from their “You Are Loved” sticker as well as a portion of sales from Ally’s emotional support axes and a portion of Mia’s streaming revenue for her “Go Go Power Rangers” cover. Proceeds will benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and To Write Love on Her Arms, both organizations that focus on saving lives and spreading hope to anyone who has been affected by suicide.
