Screamin’ Rebel Angels at The Meadows

This past Sunday, rockabilly outfit Screamin’ Rebel Angels finished a week-long run of shows with a hometown set at The Meadows in Brooklyn, NY. The trio of guitar, drums, and upright bass packed a rocking punch everyone in attendance won’t soon forget.

As soon as the group began setting up their gear, a crowd of fans surrounded the stage, awaiting their performance. Screamin’ Rebel Angels kicked off their set and played with so much energy their guitarist almost immediately broke a string, but continued shredding through the song before switching to a backup guitar. The show featured music from across their catalog, even going all the way back to their 2011 debut EP Pounce Like a Tiger for a few cuts. The trio also added some fun live elements, tagging one of their tracks with a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll”, which ended in a killer drum solo. Almost every song was full of perfectly twangy guitar, deep growling bass, driving drums, and belting vocals.

As a show of appreciation for their fans, singer/bassist Laura Palmer dedicated their song “I Don’t Want to Fight” to one of the audience members. “We’ve been out on a week-long tour, and it feels amazing to end it off with a hometown show. We can’t thank you enough for being here!” said Palmer during the show. The band ended their 45-minute set with “Heel Grinder”, the title track from their 2019 album of the same name, which had the entire venue singing the chorus “Cuz I’m a heel grinder baby!” as they happily danced along.

Screamin’ Rebel Angels have a number of shows between now and the end of the year scattered across the U.S., including a few more here in NYC. All their upcoming shows can be found on their website.
