Nile: Death Metal Legends Conquer Raleigh

Death Metal legends, Nile, kicked off their “The Underworld Awaits Tour” this past weekend at potentially the most appropriate venue in Raleigh, North Carolina; Chapel of Bones. The intimate venue was packed shoulder to shoulder with a sold out crowd for the Greenville, South Carolina band that combines influence of Egyptian legends and Lovecraftian themes in their music.

Once the stage was set and the lights blacked out, an ambience of Ancient Egyptian music began to set the tone for what was going to be a set full of brutal blast beats and technical guitar riffs. As the band took their places on stage with the “devil horns” in the air, the excited crowd reciprocated with cheers and the signature metal hand-gesture themselves. With a count of the drumsticks, Nile launched into “Stelae of Vultures” and for the next hour, the audience was reminded why this death metal powerhouse, formed in 1993, has weathered the decades and cemented themselves as legends in the genre.

Nile’s “The Underworld Awaits Tour” is supported by fellow death metal and deathcore bands, Cryptopsy, The Last Ten Seconds of Life and Cognitive and will be making stops across the United States for the next month. This tour is the perfect mix of great technical instruments and powerhouse vocals and should be on any death metal lover’s list of concerts for Fall 2025!
