Alex G, formerly known as Sandy Alex G came through Raleigh, North Carolina on his latest fall headlining tour with support from London-based indie artist, Nilüfer Yanya. Before the show even began, the entrance line winded down the venue steps and wrapped around the parking lot. Once inside The Ritz, it was packed wall to wall on the main floor with a full balcony as well.
The night kicked off when the lights dimmed and Nilüfer Yanya’s band walked onto stage, followed by the singer-songwriter herself. With beautiful vocals and melodic instrumentals, Yanya brought smiles and cheers from the audience and was the perfect artist to warm the crowd up for the energetic set from Alex G to come.
As the stage became set for Alex G’s performance, it was clear that it was going to be an awesome production. Towering scaffolding fixed with lights loomed from the rear of the stage, along with more lighting towers to the sides and on the stage floor. Once Alex G and his band took the stage, they were welcomed with a roar of cheers and applause from the sold out crowd. The many lights all around the stage lit the room with a blinding glow as Alex launched into his song “Louisiana” and the roars from the crowd grew even louder and it seemed like the whole venue joined collectively in singing along. For the next hour and a half, it was as if the audience and Alex G became one as they sang through an incredible setlist of 20+ songs including encores.
Alex G’s current US tour is coming to an end soon, but he will be headed to Europe, Australia and Japan soon with more tour dates hoping to be announced as well into 2026! Also, this writer highly encourages everyone to check out Nilüfer Yanya and don’t hesitate to do so, as this talented artist will definitely be blowing up in the near future!
