Indie rockers, Krooked Kings brought their “In Another Life” tour to the Backroom of Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, North Carolina this past Friday night. The 5-piece band, hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah have launched into popularity amongst the indie and alternative rock scenes over the past few years. Having recently released their fourth studio album, also titled In Another Life, the group show no signs of slowing down as they draw new and old fans alike to pack out every venue they play and Carrboro was no exception.
Right as you entered the intimate venue, you could feel the positive energy and good vibes floating around the room. Even though it was still 30 minutes before the opening act was supposed to perform, concert-goers had already positioned themselves directly at the edge of the stage in anticipation for the show to begin. Throughout the venue, you could hear conversations between fans talking about the last time they saw Krooked Kings perform and then some excitedly chatting about it being their first time to see the band perform live. Cat’s Cradle Backroom truly is a small intimate venue where everyone becomes friends and can bond over a great concert. Especially when that concert involves the musical talents and relatable lyricism Krooked Kings is known for.

As soon as the band took their collective spots on stage, their song “Telephobia” began to ring out through the speakers. When lead singer Oli Martin sang his first notes, the crowd joined in and never stopped for the remainder of the evening. As Krooked Kings commanded the stage, the band members were nothing but smiles and fun. This is a group that you can genuinely see having fun on stage together doing what they love, which of course carries into the audience bringing the already good vibes up even more. For this evening in particular, the good vibes translated into dancing, clapping and a lot of jumping as the fans seemed to not be able to get enough of the incredible performance.

Currently, Krooked Kings headline tour in support of the In Another Life album will be coming to an end shortly with only a few date remaining. However, this group of talented musicians promised to be back on the road soon and we can all only hope that that time comes quick! So be on the lookout for the Krooked Kings to announce what their next plans are, and be assured that no matter what, it’ll be exciting and only keep their rise to being a household name going up.
