Bayside played their second show on their “21 Years of Really Bad Luck” tour this past Wednesday, September 1st, 2021. The sold-out show took place at Cat’s Cradle in Carrboro, NC. The show was originally set to take place last year, titled “20 Years of Bad Luck”, but was postponed due to COVID.
The opening support was The Bombpops, followed by Hawthorne Heights, and Senses Fail. As J.T. Woodruff of Hawthorne Heights explained during their set, we were stepping into a time machine that night…stepping back in time to about 20 years ago when our biggest problems were what color to dye our hair that week or fighting with our parents. It was a simpler time, both pre-COVID and pre-adulthood and all the responsibilities that come with it.
The bands all played their old hits and some new favorites as well. For Hawthorne Heights, that included closing out with “Ohio Is For Lovers”. Senses Fail played a number of crowd favorites like “Niki FM”, “Can’t Be Saved”, and even threw in an epic mash-up during their closer of “Bite To Break Skin” that included “Down With The Sickness”, “Break Stuff”, and “Bulls On Parade”. It was definitely a night to remember and a very welcome reprieve from the weights of adulthood and all that has come along with life since COVID.
